What is Season for Caring?

Each year, the Austin American-Statesman selects 12 individuals and families in Central Texas to participate in their Season for Caring giving campaign. These individuals and families are selected from nominations submitted by local nonprofit organizations like HAAM. Their needs and stories are highlighted through a series of stories and videos, and donations are collected on their behalf.

This year, HAAM nominated HAAM member Victoria Hammill and her husband, Ed, and they were selected to be part of the campaign. Read The Hammills’ story here and watch Victoria sing to Ed on statesman.com. Photos below by Jay Jenner, courtesy of the Austin American-Statesman.

How to Get Involved

Each participant has a personalized wish list of things they want or need published on the Statesman's website. You can make monetary or in-kind online donations for specific participants like The Hammills, or to the campaign as a whole by clicking here. Monetary donations not only benefit the Hammills; proceeds also directly support HAAM’s premium assistance and basic needs programs. Hundreds of local musicians rely on our premium assistance and basic needs funds, so please give generously!

Give from the Hammills’ Amazon Wishlist here.

You can also make a donation by mail by sending a check payable to "Statesman Season for Caring" to Austin Community Foundation, c/o Statesman Season for Caring, 4315 Guadalupe St., Suite 300, Austin, TX, 78751.
