Under the Rock presents Ruthis Craft with Ava Connell

Originally from Seattle, Ruthie Craft is a powerhouse vocalist with songs full of strong narratives and relatable meanings. Capturing audiences with her honest, emotive lyrics and soul-bearing vocals, Ruthie has a loyal following in Texas and around the country. Delivering a unique cinematic pop-soul sound, Ruthie’s songs reflect her worldview: colorful, heartbreaking, and optimistic. Ruthie sees her performances as an opportunity to “let my emotional filters down, while inviting the audience to do the same.” This openness, vulnerability, and authentic connection to her fans, make her a perfect fit for this special show.

A dynamic performer out of Georgia,Ava Connell,is an artist on the rise — and a busy one, playing over 100 shows annually. Drawing comparisons to Jewel, Miranda Lambert, and Avril Lavigne - her voice is full of raw emotion. Ava's lyrics and performances weave in themes of heartbreak and personal growth, a perfect fit for the Under format. Impressively, Ava was recently nominated for Georgia’s 2024 Female Artist of the Year and was a semi-finalist for the Georgia Country Awards.

Under the Rock presents Paul McDonald and Jack Barksdale

Paul McDonald’s voice is immediately recognizable and impossible to ignore. Often compared to legends like Rod Stewart and Bob Dylan, the poetic story-driven narratives and deeply catchy hooks in his music are delivered by a raspy yet refined voice reminiscent of another era that demands to be heard right now. He pulls off the rare feat of being a poet, visual artist, songwriter, adamant performer, and a powerful vocalist. Paul’s hope is to spread peace, love, and unity through his music. Connection & community through song.

Jack Barksdale has been performing professionally half his life, making him a veteran singer-songwriter at 17! Described as an “old soul,” he writes songs that connect with audiences while giving glimpses of his past and reflections on our future. Inspired by a range of legendary folk, rock, and blues legends, he has shared the stage with such icons as Wyonna Judd, Ray While Hubbard and Hayes Carll. This TX artist is on his way to stardom — but for now, lets enjoy him making a stopover on “Under."

Under The Rock is an innovative new series showcasing acoustic performances from top-level local artists. Jo James started playing music when he was just 8 years old, entertaining crowds at church. Now, he’s a staple in the Austin music scene with a loyal following and unique sound. With a style that integrates blues, soul, and rock – his performances are heartfelt and powerful, with spiritual and highly relatable lyrics. Sweeney Todd at the Georgetown Palace Theatre

A legendary tale of revenge, Sweeney Todd uses his trade as barber (along with his straight razor) to avenge his wife’s death and his wrongful imprisonment. He partners with the local baker to boost her business while hiding his crimes. It’s a twisted tale of two wayward souls.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street hits the historic Springer stage Oct. 4-Nov. 3.

Reserve your seats if you dare! getpalacetickets.com

We would also like to introduce our nonprofit partner for Sweeney Todd, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM). They provide access to affordable healthcare for the Austin area’s low-income working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness. They are expanding into Williamson County and thought what better way to introduce them through the Georgetown Palace Theatre’s nonprofit partner program. HAAM - Health Alliance for Austin Musicians has helped musicians, DJs, and music teachers across Travis and surrounding counties access over $191 million in healthcare services since they began in 2005. Thank you for being a great community partner.
