Texas singer-songwriter Pierson Saxon has toured all over the U.S. and internationally for the last decade both as a solo artist and organist in the gospel-rock group, Dr JOE. Currently, Saxon can be found playing his mellow combo of classic country and traditional R&B all over central Texas with his band. He also often performs as a duo with pedal steel virtuoso Bob Hoffnar or with Old Friends, a family band with heavenly four-part harmonies.
Pierson has long been enamored with the lavish production styles of Motown and Nashville in the late 1960s/early 1970s, which can be heard clearly on his debut EP ""Heaven Is On My Mind."" Recorded at Reservoir Studios in Manhattan with producer James Yost, this five-song introductory release is filled with elaborate string and horn arrangements on top of sharply written songs mostly about the finite nature of existence.
