Noella Grey, born Naporche' Noel, was raised in rural Mississippi. Marks, MS proved to be a wonderful starting point for the transpiring artist; she sang her first solo in the Baptist Choir at the wee age of five and often accompanied her late Grandfather with sing-a-longs. The soulful sounds of Billie Holiday, Sam Cooke, B.B. King and Bobby Rush, shaped the soulful tone Noella Grey nurtures in her Music.

The Imaginary Band originally formed in Houston and transplanted to Austin in 2014. Led by Tony Jay, the group's song writer, the band began playing live shows and recording an album. At one of these shows they happened to perform after local artist Noella Grey. They became friends and began helping each other with their respective musical endeavors. After proving to be natural collaborators Noella Grey and Tony Jay began writing songs together eventually leading to restructuring the group with Noella on lead vocals. Thus Noella Grey And The Imaginary Band was formed.
