Q2 Stadium Hosts Our August 2024 Pearl Society Concert
On Friday, August 2nd, our HAAM Pearl Society members enjoyed a night of music featuring DJ Raquiqui and Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears at Q2 Stadium’s Captain Morgan Club! Seeing great exclusive performances like this with a great crowd of Austin music lovers is what makes Pearl Society one of the best parties in town. A special thank you to our provider partner Sharpe Vision for the idea to have our Pearl Society event at the home of Austin FC. To start the evening, Ted Burton from our provider partner Central Health joined us to share why Central Health’s Sendero Health Plans provide essential coverage for HAAM musicians. Covering the gap between ACA subsidies and the cost of Sendero’s Ideal Care plans represents a contribution of about $110 a month for each of the more than 1,100 musicians and their families who get health coverage thanks to HAAM and Central Health. Since 2005, the alliance has helped more than 7,100 Central Texas musicians access health care valued at more than $191 million.
Thank you to Ted Burton and the entire Central Health team for providing access to care so that our local musicians can keep touring and performing! We couldn’t fulfill our mission without critical partnerships with our affiliate service providers like Central Health.
Dr. Nicholas Lancaster of Sharpe Vision—a refractive surgeon at SharpeVision MODERN LASIK—also joined us for the evening to share the vision care and procedures they provide to our HAAM members. In 2020, Sharpe Vision offered to provide LASIK eye surgery to twenty-four HAAM members every year. LASIK vision correction treatment is not typically covered by insurance and is therefore cost-prohibitive for our members.
Since the LASIK program started in 2020, Sharpe Vision began offering over $347,400 in treatment services to HAAM musicians, with over $46,000 in donated procedures in 2024! Sharpe Vision donated a free LASIK or an implantable contact lens procedure for the Corporate Battle of the Bands live auction this year, and has sponsored HAAM during the annual fundraising volleyball tournament Charity Spike, raising over $43,000 for HAAM!
