For almost thirty years, since the late 1990s, Austin, Texas-based Hot Club of Cowtown’s jaw-dropping musicianship and exhilarating live shows have become the band's global brand. The band, led by guitarist Whit Smith and fiddler Elana James, draws its inspiration from the Western swing of Bob Wills and the historic fiddle-driven dance bands of the American southwest as well as European hot jazz made famous in Paris by Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt during the same era, the band effortlessly combines vintage string music, three-part harmony singing, and swinging dance music with extraordinary joy and virtuosity.
