2020 was a painful year for many, Hal not excluded. Although he chose to end his journey on this earth on October 19, he did not depart without bravely fighting for his life. To know Hal was to appreciate a beautiful soul who was complicated, generous, loving and wildly curious. His love and knowledge of music, art, literature and film was second to none — and the guy had incredible style.
Music, however, was always the guiding light in Hal’s life, providing joy, happiness and solace. He traveled many miles during his 46 years to experience live music. It was his salvation. He also believed that everyone should have access to the medical care they need, just as he had been afforded. I can’t think of a better organization than HAAM to pay it forward and support local musicians. Their art brings joy and refuge to so many and they deserve proper medical care in these uncertain times.
