Thank You to Our Fall 2023 Interns
This Fall saw new faces at the HAAM office. Three undergraduate interns - Lillian Russell (St. Edward’s University), Jude Hill (St. Edward’s University), and Thomas Philip (The University of Texas at Austin) - joined the HAAM team, working in outreach & enrollment, and marketing & communications.
Please meet our talented interns. Their work was vital to helping us keep music in Austin alive & well!
What is your role at HAAM?
Jude: Open Enrollment, both for Marketplace insurance and for HAAM membership, though I also help with office downtime projects when I can.
Lillian: I’m a social work intern, so my role is to learn! I focus on being open to new opportunities for growth and new learning experiences.
Thomas: I do social media, marketing, and outreach for HAAM, spreading awareness about events and initiatives we put on for HAAM donors and musicians.
Who are some of your favorite musical artists?
Lillian: Paul McCartney/Wings, Amy Winehouse, and Fleetwood Mac. I’ll listen to just about anything though.
Thomas: Kendrick Lamar, Lauryn Hill, and Tyler Childers.
Jude: Sonic Youth, IDLES, and locally, Die Spitz, and Party Van.
What does the impact of HAAM’s work mean to you?
Lillian: I think the work that HAAM does is life saving and it actively supports musicians in unique ways that other organizations can’t do. They approach their work with such a genuine and intentional way that reflects their mission.
Jude: HAAM's work means a lot to me, as a musician in Austin and as someone close to musicians it's important to me that they are taken care of. And HAAM does that very well, whether it's talking informally with a musician friend or speaking with a member, everyone only has good and grateful things to say about HAAM!
Thomas: Austin’s music scene and culture is what makes it special. I’ve loved being able to combine my love of music with my passion for healthcare and help keep Austin’s vibrant music scene alive.
