Sharpe Vision and HAAM partner up to bring LASIK to Austin musicians

HAAM has a long history of working with incredible provider partners who have donated millions of dollars of free or discounted care to our musicians, making it possible for us to provide the best, most affordable care we can to as many musicians as possible.

We are thrilled to announce our latest partnership with Sharpe Vision. Through this partnership, Sharpe Vision is generously donating a number of LASIK procedures each year to our Austin musicians, at zero cost to them.

For Sharpe Vision’s CEO Cory Salter, this is a wonderful opportunity to support the Austin live music scene and to give back to the musicians who make it happen. Cory grew up playing in bands and has many musicians in his family, meaning music has always been a very important part of his life.

“Living in a city that promotes being the ‘Live Music Capital of the World,’ I think helping offset some of Austin musicians' healthcare costs is the least we could do,” Salter said. “I really couldn't be prouder to be involved and to have such a cool organization in our city.”

We began the pilot phase of this program last year with select HAAM musicians. Geoff Queen was a participant and received donated LASIK this fall from Sharpe Vision’s surgeon Dr. Lancaster.

Geoff considers himself lucky to have been the first recipient of LASIK surgery through HAAM’s new partnership. After decades of wearing glasses, Geoff now has picture perfect vision. An extra bonus? His glasses no longer fog up in the recording studio when he is practicing with his band.

HAAM and Sharpe Vision will be continuing to roll this program out and offer it to as many HAAM musicians as possible, with the hopes of expanding this partnership in the future. We are so grateful for our new friends at Sharpe and cannot wait to see what we can do together to continue keeping music in Austin alive and well.
