Top 10 Lists and FREE Week! Got to love January!

January 7, 2013

It’s January. The holidays are behind us and it is time to get back to the regular routine. While this might normally send me into a funk, this year I am embracing the many things that are good about January.

For starters: Top 10 Lists. Oh yes. These lists are great resources! They give people like me a chance to quickly catch up on some great things I may have missed over the year. Our local media has pulled together a bunch of Top 10 music lists. Have you seen them?

Kevin Curtin of The Austin Chronicle named his Top Austin Acts of 2012

Kevin’s colleagues at The Chronicle all had lists of their own to share.

Peter Mongillo of the Austin American-Statesman gave us his Top 13 Austin Albums of 2012.

The staff of Waterloo Records had their own ideas about the Top 10 of 2012.

KUT’s music team picked their Top 10 Albums.

CultureMap gave both their list of Best Songs of 2012 and shared Austin Music Aficionados Top Album picks of 2012

So what do Top 10 lists and January have in common? The opportunity to see many of the great acts from these lists perform during FREE Week.

Free Week is an Austin tradition during the first week (or slightly more) of January. During this week participating venues offer free shows featuring some of Austin’s greatest bands. HAAMbassadors will be on hand at many FREE week shows going on at The Mohawk and Red 7. Come see us!
